Close your eyes. Picture a moment that once brought you joy, a moment that made you smile and feel happy without effort. It could be a hike with beautiful views, the sight of your kids laughing uncontrollably, a nice conversation with someone special, or a time you sat with a cozy blanket and a book in front of the fireplace.

Joy not only makes you feel good, but, according to numerous studies, also leads to a lower heart rate and blood pressure and a stronger immune system.

What brings you joy? It’s a simple question, but when was the last time you really thought about it? To figure out what to do to bring yourself joy, take time to reflect on joyful moments in your life:
Who were you with?
What were you doing?
How can you recreate these moments and feelings?

Now, start your list. While you write this list, don’t think about what brings others happiness. Think deeply about what brings you happiness. Here are some examples:
Sending a card to a friend
Watching a sunrise or sunset
Exercising
Spending uninterrupted time with your kids and pets
Writing in a journal
Buying flowers
Meditating
Dancing
Reading a book
Singing along to your favorite song

Use your list to guide yourself, and aim to complete one thing on your list each day. It may take a little practice, but after a while, it will become second nature. Taking time to invest in yourself and your joy will help you achieve your full potential!
