When was the last time you said something nice about yourself? For many of us, self-confidence boosters are few and far between. And yet, we have no problem criticizing ourselves. Why is that?
There are two powerful words we use daily, whether internally or out loud. Those words are “I am.” Take a minute to reflect on the “I am” statements you use. Are they positive, such as I am capable, I am blessed or I am hardworking, or are they negative, such as I am not good enough, I am unattractive or I am lazy?
The words that follow your “I am” statements have the power to determine the kind of life you live.
When we change how we describe ourselves, our attitudes change. If our attitudes change, we grow and transform in a positive way. By putting positive “I am” statements in your mind and words, you actively call on who you want to be and the life you want to live. It’s up to you to choose what follows “I am.”
“The strongest factor for success is self-esteem. Believing you can do it, believing you deserve it and believing you’ll get it.”
This week, write down five positive things about yourself, and be specific. After you write them down, say them out loud, hear them, believe them — then live them.
“Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is greater than any obstacle.”
